French 20th Century Giltwood Chandelier
-
Description
This striking French 20th-century giltwood chandelier is a refined example of sculptural lighting that bridges Baroque exuberance with timeless elegance. The carved wooden frame is richly adorned with scrolling acanthus leaves, floral motifs, and classical detailing, all highlighted by its warm gilt finish that has acquired a soft patina with age. The chandelier features six gracefully extended arms, each supporting a candle-form light with decorative wax-style sleeves, blending old-world craftsmanship with modern function. Its bold central urn-shaped body is finely carved and crowned with ornamental flourishes, while the underside terminates in a carved finial that completes the symmetrical composition. Both decorative and functional, this chandelier brings an air of grandeur to any interior, whether suspended in a dining room, entry hall, or salon.
