Description
A bold and characterful dining table, crafted in the style of Giuseppe Rivadossi. This piece mirrors the same sculptural language and material integrity as the matching set of six chairs, coming from the same household and likely the same workshop.
Design
Made from solid wood, the table features a broad rectangular top with a softly textured surface that accentuates the natural grain. The construction is defined by a strong architectural base—two vertical supports that intersect with horizontal slabs, creating a visually anchored structure. Carved rectangular panels decorate the base, introducing a rhythmic surface pattern. These decorative inlays are carefully incised and contrast subtly in tone, suggesting an interplay between solid volume and graphic detailing.
The central stretcher is pierced with a geometric cutout, offering lightness to the otherwise dense structure. Viewed from different angles, the table reveals refined joinery and small irregularities that speak to the hand of the maker. The overhanging top adds balance and provides generous space for seating, making it a functional piece as much as a sculptural one.
This is a table built with care and clarity, where each element contributes to the whole. It carries the same depth and restraint found in the accompanying chairs.
Condition
The piece is in solid vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age. The surface has been well preserved and the structure remains stable and clean. -
