Description
A solid and sculptural sideboard that evokes the spirit of 1980s Brutalism. Designed with clarity and intention, this piece combines strong geometry with a highly tactile approach to materials. The result is a cabinet that feels architectural in character but rooted in craft.
Design
The sideboard is executed in oak and showcases a rhythmic composition of blocky, staggered panels on the front. Four doors frame a central vertical row of drawers, all defined by the same relief technique. Each element sits flush within a rigid frame, emphasizing the modular logic of the design. The patterning creates light and shadow shifts across the surface. Legs are kept minimal and square, continuing the visual language. Interiors are divided with practical shelving, keeping function close to form.
The keys have wooden handles, subtly integrated into the construction, avoiding interruption of the composition. While unmarked, this piece clearly aligns with the broader Brutalist design language coming out of France and Belgium during the 1970s and 1980s.
This is a well-proportioned sideboard with a strong, composed presence. Materials are used honestly, with emphasis placed on weight, grain, and relief. The focus remains on the tactile and structural quality of the piece, not embellishment.
Condition
Condition is very good with minor signs of wear. Surfaces are clean and the construction is stable throughout. Doors and drawers function well. -
