Description
This rare Calling Card Tray was produced by Tiffany Studios around 1915. This circular tray, in etched doré patina, features a wide shallow bowl and raised flattened rim decorated with a motif of stylized curvilinear forms in the Art Nouveau taste, accented by inset enamel in a rich shade of burgundy red.
Though many associate the metalwork produced by Tiffany Studios with the company’s famed Desk Sets, often comprising dozens of objects with coordinated decoration, the company also manufactured standalone articles in bronze which they described as “Fancy Goods” - including planters, candlesticks and calling card trays like the example seen here.
This rare piece of Tiffany Studios metalwork in its original patina is stamped on the underside with firm’s mark and model number.
