Description
A sculptural rhythm defines this rare set of eight armchairs by Italian designer Giuseppe Rivadossi. Known for his architectural approach to furniture, Rivadossi combined craftsmanship with a reverence for material, resulting in designs that feel both timeless and grounded.
Design
Each chair in this signed set is constructed from solid oak and reflects Rivadossi’s affinity for structure, repetition and clarity of form. The angular frames feature straight, vertical lines in the backrest, evoking a sense of order, while the carved, curved seats introduce softness and ergonomics into the design. Notably, the trapezoidal back panel is slightly pitched, offering comfort without compromising the graphic quality of the silhouette. Mortise and tenon joints are visible throughout, revealing a construction method that speaks to enduring artisanal values.
These chairs were produced by Officina Rivadossi, the family-run studio that shaped much of Giuseppe’s output in the 1970s and ’80s.
Condition
The chairs are in good vintage condition. Some surface wear and marks are visible, consistent with age and use. All chairs bear the “Officina Rivadossi” mark on the lower stretcher. -
