Description
This pair of “José” lounge chairs by the French designer duo Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron are a stunning blend of soft form and geometric linear structure. The fluid lines thoughtfully demonstrate the designers’ dedication to maintain a smooth form, while still playing with its geometry.
This model gracefully exhibits numerous stylistic elements that are characteristic of the designers’ influential creations. Crafted from oak, the backrest is slightly tilted for comfort, aided by the generous seat and back cushions. The carefully carved geometrical patterns on the backrest are impressive features, making the chairs an interesting and aesthetically pleasing sight. The light fabric works beautifully with the warm brown wooden structure of the chairs. The edges of the frame and legs are softly rounded, giving a gentle feel. Thanks to the appealing combination of materials, design and craftsmanship, the “José” chairs are immediately recognisable. Guillerme et Chambron’s pieces were manufactured in small series, therefore they are highly collectible.
Through their establishment of Votre Maison, Guillerme et Chambron significantly influenced how to blend functional and aesthetic choices. With the “Grégoire” chair model, both designers effortlessly highlight how certain stylistic decisions can create harmony through forms and negative space.
