Description
Characterised by clean lines, quality woods, soft edges and intuitive functionality, the Swedish Modern lighting models of Boréns are eternally timeless and timely. This specific floor lamp model is a delightfully distinctive piece, with immediately recognisable details.
Using brass was a classic design practice for many Swedish designers, however adding an organic material such as wood to lighting pieces was relatively uncommon. This lamp’s design takes advantage of its materials and masterfully pairs their distinctive qualities. The mixture creates an interesting visual effect, where the organic and traditional look of wood meets the modern look of brass. The stem rises from a solid round brass base that grounds the lamp with a subtle sense of luxury, while the soft patina on the metal adds character and a vintage charm. The shade in an off-white fabric tops the lamp, casting a gentle, diffused light that creates an inviting atmosphere. The shade’s material further enhances the organic quality of the piece, complementing the wood’s colour and the brass’s sheen. The result is a harmonious interplay between warm materials and sleek lines, a true testament to the Scandinavian approach of pairing craftsmanship with practical design.
Boréns manufactured this lamp with utmost care for its quality. The company was amongst the most renowned Swedish lighting manufacturers during the mid-century era, working with some of the most well-known Scandinavian designers. This model "7071" floor lamp shows the great success these international collaborations brought by.
