Description
Sculptural Scandinavian Modern table lamp model 1911 by Markslöjd, Sweden, made in the second half of the 20th century. This sizable lamp features a beautifully curved arm made from small, turned wooden segments stacked along a flexible core, creating a smooth organic line that recalls the movement of a swan’s neck. The base is solid wood with a warm natural tone, and the lamp is completed with a pleated fabric shade that softly diffuses the light.
Stamped to the underside with Markslöjd Sweden and model number 1911, confirming authenticity. The lamp reflects the Swedish design tradition of combining craftsmanship and functionality, where natural materials are shaped into refined, modern forms.
Markslöjd, founded in the early 1960s in the Mark municipality of Sweden, became known for its skillful use of wood and textiles in lighting design. The company’s early production drew from local craft traditions, and their mid-century models—such as this one—embody the balance between handcrafted character and modern simplicity that defines Scandinavian design.
The lamp remains in good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. The wiring is original and should be checked before use.
A fine example of Swedish modern lighting that combines sculptural presence with everyday practicality, this Markslöjd model 1911 lamp brings warmth and quiet sophistication to any interior. - More Information
