Tall “Dinamarquesa” Armchair in Rosewood, Carlo Fongaro, 1970s - Lot 736A

Designed by Carlo Fongaro for Probel in the late 1960s, the “Dinamarquesa” swivel chair is a refined example of Brazil’s modernist sensibility meeting functional design. Fongaro, an Italian-born designer who settled in Brazil, became known for blending European precision with the warmth and organic materiality characteristic of Brazilian furniture of the era.

This elegant model features a five-spoke chrome metal base with rolling casters, and a plywood seat and backrest finished in rich rosewood veneer. The piece has been newly upholstered in camel-colored super-soft chenille, offering both comfort and a tactile, inviting warmth that complements the wood’s natural tones.

Both the height and backrest adjustments are in perfect working condition, reflecting the craftsmanship and engineering typical of Brazilian modern design. The manufacturer’s seal remains beautifully preserved on the back of the chair.
