19th Century Louis XVI–Style Mahogany Double-Sided Desk with Leather Top
-
Description
Elegant 19th-century Louis XVI–style mahogany flat desk, double-sided and richly detailed in the refined neoclassical manner. The front features four drawers, including a double drawer with an internal locker on the left, each fitted with its original lock and a working key. Two slide-out side pulls extend the work surface and are covered—like the main top—with newly replaced black leather, gilt-tooled and bordered with decorative irons.
A brass molding frames the top, while the drawers, sides, and rear are lined with inset brass rods; the back is designed to simulate five drawers, allowing the desk to be placed freely in a room.
The four fluted legs, carved with delicate rush motifs, are topped with brass rings and finished with brass sabots. Fully refinished and in excellent condition, this desk brings both utility and understated 19th-century elegance to any space.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
