Japanese Woven Bamboo Ikebana Basket by Jin Morigami
-
Description
This small and delicate hand-woven ikebana basket (Hanakago) was made by Japanese Bamboo artist Jin Morigami (1955-) circa 2005. The baluster vase form basket contains a lacquered Otoshi (water container) and featues an elegant, elongated handle. The basket was constructed with very thin strips of bamboo and rattan and coated with lacquer. The artist combined pine-needle plaiting, thousand-line construction and twining expertly to achieve this lovely piece. The piece is incised artist's mark to underside.
The Hanakago comes with the original signed paper storage box, packing and the several printed reference notes as shown. -
