Set of Four Cube Wall Lamps by Staff Leuchten, Germany ca 1960s

$ 8,360
  • Description
    Staff Leuchten, founded in 1945 in the city of Lemgo, Germany, emerged as one of the forward-thinking lighting manufacturers of the postwar era. Known for their technical precision and for developing lighting systems that balanced architecture and atmosphere, the company became a key player in shaping modern European interiors. Their work often centered on the idea that light itself could be a design material, something that could sculpt space without relying on ornament.

    This set of four cube wall lamps reflects that philosophy clearly, demonstrating Staff’s commitment to clarity, geometry, and visual impact. Each lamp takes the form of a glass cube, simple at first glance but surprisingly expressive once illuminated. The matte opal glass gives off a soft look, projecting light in a delicate, ambient manner. When lit, the cubes’ glow extends beyond the form and becomes part of the composition. The pieces are anchored to the wall through the use of black metal bases which offer a chromatic contrast to the composition. The lamps are compact but striking through their bold form. Their precise proportions and warm materiality give them a quiet strength, while the ensemble of the four piece set introduces rhythm and structure. Viewed together, they read almost like a sculptural installation, their volumes floating lightly against the wall. Staff’s technical expertise shows in the way the pieces sit flush and in how evenly the light disperses, creating a refined and cosy effect.

    These wall lamps capture the spirit of mid-century German lighting design, where engineering and aesthetics were inseparable. They offer both function and presence, adapting effortlessly to contemporary interiors while carrying the legacy of a company that helped define modern illumination. Their simplicity is intentional, allowing the play of materials to do the work. Timeless, sleek yet architectural, this set is ideal to complete any space.
