Description
A rare Modello 811 armchair designed by Gio Ponti circa 1957 for Cassina. Crafted in walnut, it reflects Ponti’s signature blend of architectural precision and refined comfort. Its sculptural frame, paired with plush ribbed cushions, creates an elegant seating experience. A standout example of Italian mid-century craftsmanship, this piece remains highly collectible.
Gio Ponti (1891–1979) was one of Italy’s most influential architects and designers, shaping the language of 20th-century modernism. His work spanned architecture, furniture, ceramics, and industrial design, all characterized by an elegant lightness and structural precision. Ponti believed that good design should uplift everyday life, a philosophy reflected in his refined and functional creations. His collaborations with leading manufacturers like Cassina helped define the golden era of Italian design. -
