An English Flintlock Screwbarrel Boxlock Pistol
-
Description
Early 19th Century English Flintlock Pocket or Muff pistol. Marked Baker on one side with banner engraved on the other
Here we present an antique Baker Marked Boxlock Screw Barrel Flintlock Self Defense Pistol, made circa 1800s in London, England. This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities of London, Paris nbduring the very early 1800s.
This pistol features an internal lock that aided in protecting the action and being a little smoother in the pocket. It also has a screw-off barrel that would have eliminated the need for a ramrod as well as making a better gas seal as a slightly larger ball could be loaded from the breech end rather than a slightly undersized ball being forced down the muzzle end.
The overall condition is good. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and clean. The proofs are clear on the frame and barrel. The grip remains solid. The barrel threads on and off as intended.
This piece classifies as an antique weapon and does not require licensing to sell or purchase. -
