Description
Elegant and architecturally restrained, this Italian coffee table dates to the 1970s and exemplifies the era’s refined approach to modern luxury. The design features a clean-lined frame constructed from square brass tubing, arranged in a precise rectilinear composition that emphasizes proportion, balance, and structural clarity. The brass has developed a warm, natural patina over time, lending depth and character while retaining a softly reflective surface.
A substantial, thick glass top rests delicately on discreet brass supports, creating a floating effect that highlights the geometric framework beneath. The glass edges display a subtle green tint typical of period plate glass, adding visual contrast to the golden tones of the metal. The open base design allows light to pass through freely, making the table feel visually light despite its solid construction.
This piece reflects the influence of Italian modernist and postmodern design of the 1970s, where craftsmanship, material integrity, and understated elegance were paramount. Its minimalist form allows it to integrate seamlessly into both contemporary and vintage interiors—equally at home in a refined living room, a curated modernist space, or a gallery-like setting.
The table remains structurally sound and presents well, with age-appropriate wear consistent with vintage brass, including minor surface marks and patina that enhance its authenticity. A sophisticated and versatile statement piece, this coffee table captures the timeless appeal of Italian design at its most disciplined and luxurious. -
