George III or Hepplewhite Style Mahogany Secretary Bookcase with Arch Pediment
Offered for sale is a lovely and elegant Hepplewhite style drop front secretary by Heckman Furniture since 1922 of Grand Rapids and Lexington, N.C. The secretary is substantial as it is solid wood with inlaid details. There is a leather drop-down writing surface supported by two pull out arms. The glass door are beveled with curved corner details. Heckman creates accurate period antique style furniture, but has modernized those pieces to be used in modern day settings. The bookcase upper portion had been updated with glass shelves and has been fitted with lights above to illuminate the cabinet. It is wired to plug is as sen in the back photos. It appears that the top and base can be separated and are secured with brackets from the back. -
