Description
A charming French half chest of drawers dating to the nineteenth century, executed in the Transition style that bridges the curves of Louis XV with the emerging structure of Louis XVI. The carved wooden frame retains its original painted surface, displaying a beautifully aged patina that reflects both time and craftsmanship. Decorative motifs enrich the façade while preserving a light and graceful appearance.
The chest is topped with a Royal Red marble slab, offering striking contrast to the painted surface and adding both visual depth and durability. It opens with three drawers, providing practical storage within a compact and versatile form. The gently curved legs and balanced proportions allow the piece to sit comfortably in a variety of interiors without overwhelming the space.
Wear to the painted finish is consistent with age and contributes to the authenticity of the piece rather than detracting from its character. Ideal as a bedside table, small commode, or accent cabinet, this half chest brings warmth, history, and decorative elegance to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
