Description
This 19th-century Scandinavian bureau exemplifies the refined craftsmanship and decorative restraint characteristic of Northern European furniture of the period. Originating from Scandinavia, the piece features exquisite carved detailing, including geometric motifs across the slant-front and drawer façades, lending visual interest while maintaining a balanced, architectural form.
The bureau is fitted with its original working lock and keys, reinforcing both its authenticity and functional integrity. The slant-front opens to a writing surface, while multiple drawers below provide practical storage. Finished in a light painted surface, the bureau displays gentle wear and patina consistent with age, enhancing its historical character without compromising its structural presence.
Proportioned yet substantial, this piece reflects the Scandinavian emphasis on utility paired with understated decoration. Estimated to be approximately 150 years old, the bureau is well suited for use in a study, bedroom, or living space, offering both decorative appeal and everyday function within traditional or classically influenced interiors.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
