Description
Marc Chagall (1887-1985), Peinter de profil. The signature 'Chagall' (lower right) Gouache on paper. Formerly from the artist's Estate. Executed circa 1980. Provenance: The estate of the artist, and thence by descent. The comite Marc Chagall has confirmed the authenticity of this work. A certificate of Authenticity issued by comite Chagall will accompany this work upon purchase.
This dreamlike scenes reveal the full scope of his artistic ingenuity. They display chagall's incomparable ability to evoke profound memories and to suggest mystical connections between things. Through a poetic juxtaposition of personal symbols, Chagall would often entwine the motifs of flowers and lovers in his art, depicting resplendent alongside tenderly embracing couples. More than still life, flowers, although themselves intrinsically ephemeral, embodied a profoundly moving gesture of love's timeless power transcend the everyday. -
