Exceptional Pair of Lucite and Polished Nickel Column Lamps
in the Style of Karl Springer, American, circa 1970

18.5″ h top of glass columns with nickel

30″ height to shade rest.

A sculptural and highly refined pair of column lamps composed of solid lucite shafts mounted within polished nickel frames and stepped plinth bases. The clarity and mass of the lucite columns create a striking architectural presence, while the nickel mounts introduce a crisp metallic contrast that defines the form.

The design reflects the sophisticated minimalism associated with the New York luxury design ateliers of the 1970s, particularly the work of Karl Springer. Springer’s studio frequently employed thick acrylic, polished metals, and bold geometric volumes to produce pieces that balanced modernism with a sense of glamour.
