Description
Elegant and architecturally refined, this 1960s credenza designed by Florence Knoll exemplifies the restrained sophistication that defined the golden era of modern residentail and corporate interiors. Produced by Knoll International, the piece features a beautifully figured Brazilian rosewood case with dramatic bookmatched grain across its ten drawer fronts.
The cabinet rests on a polished chrome-plated steel base and is fitted with matching chrome hardware, creating a striking contrast against the rich, dark rosewood veneer. The long, low profile and disciplined geometry are hallmarks of Knoll’s design philosophy, blending functionality with refined modernist aesthetics.
Opening the drawers reveals finely crafted combed grain oak interiors, a detail that speaks to the exceptional manufacturing standards associated with Knoll production during this period. With ten drawers, the credenza offers generous storage while maintaining a clean, minimalist presence suitable for both residential and executive settings.
The piece presents overall in very good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age and use, adding character while preserving the integrity of the design.
A classic example of mid-century modern casework, this credenza reflects Florence Knoll’s enduring influence on 20th-century design and remains as relevant today as when it was first produced.
These are uncommon to find with a rosewood top.
Retains label to underside of base. -
