Description
An iconic and highly collectible “Sunrise Cactus” sculpture, created through a collaboration between Gufram and Paul Smith.
This piece is a limited-edition reinterpretation of the legendary Gufram Cactus, originally designed in 1972 and considered one of the most recognizable objects of Italian Radical Design. In this special edition, Paul Smith introduces a vibrant sunrise-inspired gradient, transitioning from deep blue through violet and pink into warm orange and yellow—bringing a playful yet refined sensibility to the sculptural form.
Executed in Gufram’s signature polyurethane with Guflac finish, the surface features the iconic textured pattern that mimics cactus spines while remaining soft and durable. The result is a piece that exists between sculpture and functional object-simultaneously ironic, expressive, and unmistakably bold.
This example is numbered 94 of 169, making it part of a strictly limited production. The base is signed and marked, including the phrase *“Every day is a new beginning,”* reinforcing the conceptual narrative behind the “Sunrise” edition.
A true statement piece, the Sunrise Cactus sits at the intersection of design, fashion, and collectible art, equally suited for high-end interiors, galleries, or serious design collections. -
