Description
This rare and sculptural candlestick was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his company Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1960s. Crafted entirely from solid brass, the piece features six angular panels arranged in a crown-like formation. Each panel is perforated with circular patterns, which allow candlelight to cast intricate and decorative shadows when illuminated, enhancing the ambient atmosphere.
The geometric structure reflects Jakobsson’s sophisticated approach to design, where the interplay between material, form, and light is carefully considered to create both visual interest and functionality. Over time, the brass surface has developed a rich patina, adding depth and historical character to the piece while highlighting its vintage authenticity.
The candlestick measures 21 cm in width and depth, and 28 cm in height (8.3 x 8.3 x 11 inches), making it a distinctive and elegant object that embodies the sculptural qualities and craftsmanship typical of mid-century Scandinavian design.
