This Barovier art glass bowl was made in a technique called graffito, which was used in several series. It was a variation of the ancient fenicio technique in which a glass cane (covered with colored glass, gold layers or by some other means) is wrapped around the vase; then a layer of colorless glass was applied so that air was enclosed in the spiral. By combing the glass, a decorative pattern was obtained (Collection Marc Heiremans, Novecento, Antwerp).
