A PAIR OF 18TH CENTURY AUBUSSON VERDURE TAPESTRIES
One with a parrot seated in a tree in a thickly wooded landscape, the other with a hoopoe standing on the side of a river bank with trees and a mountainous landscape in the background and flowers in the foreground.
Both with a decorative border depicting flowers and acanthus leaves with a later yellow ochre plain edging.
Woven in wool and silk and backed with linen.
Aubusson, France, first half of the 18th century.
Old repairs consistent with age throughout.
