Description
A sculptural statement of Italian mid-century modern design, this coffee Table by renowned designer Filippo Chissotti captures the elegance, movement, and organic sophistication that define the best postwar European furniture.
The table features a stunning biomorphic solid walnut frame with soft, flowing curves that create an almost freeform silhouette—both architectural and organic at once. The sculpted walnut surround beautifully encases the inset glass top, allowing the transparency of the glass to highlight the craftsmanship of the base while maintaining a light, airy presence in the room.
One of the most remarkable details of this design is the way the tapered wood legs rise and visually join into the glass structure itself, creating a seamless relationship between the frame, support, and tabletop. This thoughtful integration gives the piece a floating quality while emphasizing the sculptural geometry from every angle. The contrast between the warm walnut grain and the clean glass surface creates a refined balance of natural material and modern design.
Its unique shape makes it far more than a functional coffee table—it becomes the centerpiece of the room. Perfect for a sophisticated living space, design-forward interior, or collector’s home, this table pairs beautifully with both Italian and Danish modern seating.
At Hobbs Modern, we carefully restore each vintage design piece to preserve its originality while bringing out the richness of the materials and craftsmanship. This Filippo Chissotti coffee table is not simply furniture—it is collectible design history with timeless presence and exceptional visual impact. -
