French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Commode

A gorgeous Louis XVI style marble-topped mahogany commode from France, circa 1870, with transitional details that could suit a wide range of decorating tastes today. The white marble features delicate gray veining carved with turreted front corners that conforms to the legs. Each of the three drawers are inset with polished brass trim around the paneling and understated escutcheons. No key is present. The top drawer is divided into three sections which makes it quite useful as a dresser for clothing as well as household items. All three drawers glide easily using brass bail handles of angular profile. Fluted pilasters on the sides transition to graceful, tapering legs fitted with brass sabot feet. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax this antique commode is ready for your interior. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
