Terracotta Hunting Hound Pointer Dog Statue, Early 20th C.

$ 1,900
  • Description
    Frozen in the classic point stance, this English early 20th C. faux-finished terracotta hunting hound draws directly from 19th century animal sculpture. The form echoes the work of Henri Alfred Marie Jacquemart, whose studies elevated sporting dogs into fine art. Originals were cast in bronze or iron for estates and kennels. This example translates that tradition into terracotta, with an aged surface. It was intended as one of a matched pair, traditionally placed to flank an entrance or path. Wear consistent with age and use. 21.5"w x 8.5"d x 15"h
