Description
This stool, designed by Pierre Chapo and produced in France during the 1970s, reflects his characteristic approach to furniture as a direct expression of material and construction. The circular seat is supported by three angled legs that intersect in a carefully balanced configuration, forming a stable tripod base. The geometry is simple yet precise, with each element contributing to the overall structural logic of the piece.
Chapo’s work is distinguished by its emphasis on solid wood, often elm, and a commitment to traditional joinery techniques executed with exacting precision. His designs reject applied ornament in favor of proportion, craftsmanship, and the inherent qualities of the material. This stool exemplifies that philosophy, where the interplay between mass, angle, and grain results in a form that is both functional and quietly sculptural, firmly situated within the tradition of French postwar craftsmanship. -
