Description
An icon of Danish Modern design, this original partners desk by Peter Løvig Nielsen is a masterclass in balance—where sculptural form meets exceptional functionality. Designed in Denmark during the height of mid-century craftsmanship, this desk embodies the thoughtful innovation and material integrity that define the era.
Crafted in richly grained teak, the desk showcases Løvig’s signature approach: warm tones, refined proportions, and a striking floating top that creates a sense of visual lightness. The clean architectural frame with straight thin legs allows the piece to feel open and airy, while still offering substantial workspace and storage.
What truly sets this piece apart is its fully finished, double-sided design. With drawers on one side and open shelving on the other, this desk was intentionally created to float in a room—making it ideal for modern interiors where layout flexibility matters. Whether used as a single executive desk, a partners desk for two people, or a centerpiece in an open-plan office, it adapts effortlessly to the way we work today.
The sculpted drawer pulls are seamlessly integrated into the case, a subtle but powerful detail that reflects the sophistication of Danish cabinetry. Multiple drawers provide generous storage for office essentials, while the upper shelving offers easy access to books, documents, or display objects—blending utility with design.
At Hobbs Modern, this desk has been carefully restored in our San Diego workshop, honoring the original craftsmanship while bringing the teak back to its full depth and luster. The result is a piece that retains its vintage character while performing beautifully in a contemporary workspace.
Why this desk works for today:
Functions as a single-user executive desk or a true partners desk for two
Finished on all sides—perfect for floating in a room or open office layout
Combines closed storage (drawers) with open shelving for modern workflow needs
Ideal for home offices, studios, or collaborative workspaces
A timeless investment piece that elevates any interior
This Peter Løvig Nielsen partners desk is more than furniture—it’s a statement of how good design endures. Warm, functional, and architecturally refined, it remains as relevant today as it was in the 1960s. -
