Description
N-0100: Monumental Antique Cut-Glass Chandelier by Osler
English, early 20th Century
Height 390cm, diameter 174cm
This impressive monumental chandelier is executed in the distinguished manner of the celebrated English firm F&C Osler, renowned for producing some of the most elaborate and luxurious crystal lighting designs of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Combining grand scale with exceptional craftsmanship, the piece reflects the opulence and refinement associated with the finest English glass workshops of the period.
The chandelier is designed as a magnificent multi-tiered composition centred around a richly cut-glass baluster stem, issuing numerous scrolling branches fitted with candle nozzles and decorative drip pans. The entire structure is lavishly adorned with faceted pendants, prism chains, and elongated spear-shaped drops, all beautifully arranged to enhance the reflection and brilliance of light.
Particularly striking is the extraordinary scale of the chandelier, which gives it a commanding architectural presence ideally suited to an important interior. The abundance of finely cut crystal ornamentation and the harmonious balance of the tiers further highlight the sophistication of its design.
An exceptional and highly decorative lighting piece in the grand English tradition of Osler chandeliers.
