Description
A pair of substantial floor lamps model 30-075 designed by Lisa Johansson-Papé and manufactured by Orno in Finland during the 1950s. Considerably larger than Johansson-Papé’s more commonly encountered Ihanne floor lamp, this impressive model was conceived for grander interiors and more spacious rooms rather than the average postwar Finnish home. Their commanding scale allows them to anchor a room with ease, while retaining the elegance and restraint that characterize the designer’s work. A comparison photograph with the standard Ihanne model illustrates the remarkable difference in size.
Crafted in brass and complemented by natural leather details and pleated fabric shades, the lamps embody the refined warmth of Scandinavian modernism. The combination of materials creates a timeless expression that works equally well in contemporary, mid-century, and more traditional interiors. Their generous proportions make them particularly suitable for larger living rooms, libraries, lounges, or hospitality settings where they can be appreciated both as functional lighting and as sculptural objects.
Both lamps are stamped by Orno.
Lisa Johansson-Papé (1907–1989) was one of Finland’s most influential lighting designers and is widely regarded as a pioneer of modern lighting design in the Nordic countries. Throughout her career, she emphasized functionality and visual comfort above all else, believing that the quality of light should take precedence over decorative effect. After designing furniture for Stockmann, she turned her focus to lighting and collaborated extensively with Orno, where she created many of her most celebrated designs. Her work received international recognition, including multiple awards at the Milan Triennials during the 1950s, and remains highly sought after today for its elegance, practicality, and enduring appeal. -
