Vienna Secession Pair "Spartans“ Georg Klimt attr. Art Nouveau Relief Panels

$ 30,000
  • Description
    A fine pair of Viennese Secession Art Nouveau relief panels attr. to Georg Klimt (1867–1931), Vienna, dated around 1900. The panels depict two Spartan warriors looking at each other; such motifs were very popular in the early 20th century. Handcrafted using the repoussé technique, executed in copper, finely chased and chiselled, professionally and exceptionally well crafted, with the thoughtful details speaking for themselves.
    In very good original condition with a beautiful patina. Many of the reliefs were commissioned pieces intended for decorative panels used by first-class Viennese cabinetmakers such as Michael Niedermoser and August Ungethüm to embellish their furniture. Professionally and elegantly framed, these reliefs can fully reveal their artistic impact.
