Description
An elegant French Napoleon III chaise longue dating to circa 1860, distinguished by its graceful chapeau de gendarme crest and classic serpentine silhouette. Embodying the refined comfort and sophistication of the Second Empire period, this timeless piece was designed to serve as both a luxurious place of repose and a statement of decorative elegance.
The beautifully shaped frame is supported by turned wooden legs, lending visual lightness and period authenticity to the design. One of the chaise's most distinctive features is its dramatic chapeau de gendarme back, a form long associated with the finest French upholstery traditions and prized for its regal presence.
The exterior back has been stripped, presenting a rare opportunity for customization. Whether restored in a traditional fabric, contemporary textile, or luxurious velvet, the chaise offers exceptional potential to be tailored to a wide range of interiors while preserving its nineteenth-century character.
Rich in history and decorative appeal, this chaise longue brings an air of French elegance to bedrooms, salons, libraries, and sophisticated living spaces.
Ready to enjoy or add upholstery of your choice once home! -
