Description
*This piece is in the process of being restored and will be finished soon. More pictures to come.
A masterful example of Danish Modern craftsmanship, this vintage teak lowboy dresser by renowned Danish designer Ib Kofod-Larsen for J. Clausen & Son Brande Møbelfabrik perfectly captures the sculptural elegance and exceptional woodworking that made Scandinavian furniture of the 1960s famous around the world.
Crafted from beautifully figured old-growth teak, this dresser is as much a work of art as it is a functional storage piece. The clean architectural form is softened by Kofod-Larsen’s signature organic details, most notably the beautifully sculpted recessed drawer pulls that appear seamlessly carved into each drawer front. The warm teak grain flows naturally across the case, showcasing the superior material selection and precision joinery synonymous with the finest Danish cabinetmakers.
Offering generous storage, the dresser features eight smoothly operating drawers, each fitted with an integrated hand pull that eliminates unnecessary hardware while emphasizing the purity of the design. Raised on four elegantly tapered legs, the case appears to float above the floor, creating the light visual presence that defines authentic mid-century Danish furniture.
Whether placed in a bedroom, living room, or office, this versatile lowboy functions beautifully as a dresser, credenza, or media cabinet. Its restrained design allows it to complement both modern interiors and carefully curated vintage collections.
At Hobbs Modern, we appreciate the extraordinary craftsmanship behind pieces like this. From the flawless drawer construction to the subtle proportions and refined detailing, this dresser represents the highest level of Danish furniture making during the golden age of Scandinavian design.
For collectors seeking authentic works by Ib Kofod-Larsen, examples produced by J. Clausen & Son Brande Møbelfabrik remain highly sought after for their timeless design, exceptional construction, and enduring investment quality.
