Description
A large pair of French beech armchairs in the os de mouton taste, the enduring Louis XIII form named for its distinctive 'mutton bone' shaped legs and stretchers. Generously scaled, the chairs have the commanding, sculptural presence that makes the form a designer favorite for libraries, fireplaces, and living rooms. The turned beech frames display crisp shaping and warm color, providing handsome architecture for upholstery, and the pair takes fabric beautifully, from traditional tapestry to modern linen. Os de mouton seating bridges period and contemporary rooms with unusual ease, its strong silhouette reading almost modern in a spare setting. The frames are solid, with wear consistent with age and use.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
