Description
A Very Large & striking mid-century West German drip lava glazed porcelain vase, beautifully showcasing the bold colors and modernist aesthetic characteristic of European ceramic design from the period. This decorative vase features a vivid tri-color glazed surface in rich Blood red, off white, orange, and brown/black tones, creating a dynamic contrast while highlighting its elegant sculptural form.
The vase displays a refined round silhouette with a wide opening top, and resting on a round base with a smooth glazed finish in a drip glazed lava design, combining simplicity of shape with a vibrant color palette. The bold geometric use of color reflects the innovative approach to ceramic decoration popular in West Germany during the mid to late-20th century, making this piece a wonderful example of the era’s modern decorative arts.
With its versatile size and eye-catching design, this vase makes an excellent accent piece for a variety of interiors, from mid-century modern and contemporary spaces to more eclectic European-inspired décor. Whether displayed on a bookshelf, console, mantel, or incorporated into a collection of decorative ceramics, it adds a sophisticated pop of color and a strong visual presence.
The vase measures 17.5 inches high by 11 inches in diameter and retains its original maker’s mark underneath. It is in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. -
