Rare Saw Buck Table

Description
New England, late 18th, early 19th century.
Eastern white pine top, hardwood (birch or maple) base.
Retaining original red painted surface with old varnish, with wear commensurate to age and use.
Provenance: Private Collection, Georgetown, South Carolina.
Having a single board, bread-board end top, this sawbuck table was most likely used as a work table, as opposed to a tavern table. It has survived in a remarkable state of preservation.
