Description
A rare and highly collectible pair of vintage club chairs designed and manufactured in Los Angeles, California by Monteverdi-Young, a defining name in American modernist furniture. Produced in December 1977 and expressly commissioned for Aaron F. Latt & Associates, this documented pair embodies the refined sophistication and architectural presence associated with West Coast luxury interiors of the era.
Crafted in solid light oak with elegantly sculpted arms and a substantial, grounded stance, the chairs retain their original mohair upholstery—an increasingly scarce and highly sought-after textile prized by interior designers for its rich texture and soft matte finish. The fabric shows honest vintage wear, including areas of staining and patina, while the oak frames display minor nicks and surface wear consistent with age and use, adding to their authenticity and character.
Monteverdi-Young pieces were often custom-produced for high-end residential and design clients, making surviving examples with original labels especially desirable among collectors of American design. This pair offers both provenance and presence—ideal for curated interiors, gallery-style settings, or sophisticated residential projects seeking warmth and originality.
