Art Deco Glass Vase by Charles Schneider, Palmier Bleu Design, 1927

A striking example of French Art Deco cameo glass from Le Verre Français, the celebrated decorative line created under the direction of Charles Schneider, one of the most influential glass artisans of the period. The Schneider Glassworks, established by brothers Charles and Ernest Schneider in Épinay-sur-Seine, France in 1917, was among the leading producers of fine-art glass between the two world wars, creating exuberantly colorful vessels in both the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles.

This footed, bell-shaped vase is executed in glass gradating from a pale, mottled light blue at the base into a rich, deep cobalt blue at the rim. The vase is decorated in the "Palmier Bleu" (Blue Palm) pattern — a stylized, acid-etched motif of arching palm fronds cascading downward from the rim, evoking the silhouette of a palm tree and its foliage. The design is rendered in a bold graphic style typical of Charder's most sought-after botanical patterns, with the layered blue tones creating strong depth and contrast against the frosted ground. The vase is raised on a black glass stepped foot.
The piece is engraved "Charder" on the body and "Le Verre Français" on the underside of the foot, consistent with documented examples of this pattern.
