Description
Striking pair of German wall sconces from the 1960s, featuring sculptural shades made of richly colored Murano glass.
Each sconce is formed from a single flared glass element with a distinctive trumpet-like silhouette, narrowing toward the base and opening into a broad curved upper rim. The glass displays a highly decorative mottled pattern in layered shades of burnt orange, deep red, olive green, brown and black, creating a vibrant and almost painterly surface.
The irregular distribution of color gives the glass considerable depth and texture, with subtle variations becoming particularly expressive when illuminated. The warm tones of the Murano glass are complemented by a discreet brass frame and wall support, reinforcing the elegant character of the design without detracting from the sculptural quality of the glass.
Each wall light accommodates a single light source, producing a warm atmospheric glow while emphasizing the rich coloration and organic pattern of the glass.
A distinctive example of 1960s European decorative lighting, combining traditional Murano glass craftsmanship with the bold forms and warm color palette associated with Mid-Century Modern design.
