Swedish 18th Century Gustavian Painted Armchair

Made in Sweden around 1780, this large Gustavian armchair is of the Swedish Model, repainted in blue and newly covered in linen. The Gustavian style, the Swedish interpretation of neoclassicism, is expressed in the restrained lines and proportions of the chair. The blue repaint gives it a soft, decorative surface in the Scandinavian palette, while the fresh linen upholstery leaves it ready for use. Its generous scale makes it a comfortable seat.
