Description
A very fine Luigi Brusotti shield shaped mirror with an etched black glass frame and marine-themed motifs. A highly distinctive silhouette with scalloped upper contours and a central beveled mirror plate with hand-cut glass border, with original wood backing. The segmented black glass panels are decorated with reverse-engraved or etched marine life illustrations, including fish, coral, sea shells and sea horse. A work that combines exquisite craftsmanship, refinement and historical value, a testament to the excellence of Italian design and glassmaking in the early 20th century and for which the Turin Fontana Arte glass studio was renown.
