Description
An elegant pair of antique French glass vanity or perfume bottles, dating to the mid-to-late 19th century and attributed to Baccarat. Each bottle is beautifully presented within an ornate gilt bronze-mounted frame, combining the refined clarity and craftsmanship of French cut glass with richly detailed gilt bronze ornamentation.
The bottles feature a graceful rounded form with faceted and cut-glass detailing, topped by an elegant removable cut-glass stopper. Surrounding the glass bodies are finely cast gilt bronze mounts incorporating decorative sphinx figures, lending the pair a distinctive Neoclassical character. Each bottle rests on a substantial circular gilt bronze base, creating a balanced and highly decorative silhouette.
The combination of Baccarat glass, intricate cut decoration, and elaborate gilt bronze mounts reflects the luxurious taste and exceptional craftsmanship associated with fine French decorative objects of the period. Their relatively compact scale makes them particularly versatile for display on a vanity, dressing table or étagère, either as a pair or incorporated into a larger collection of antique French objets d'art.
The pair is in good antique condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Each bottle measures approximately 7 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter. A sophisticated and highly decorative pair that would bring an elegant 19th-century French character to a variety of interiors. -
