Description
Produced by Novo Rumo in Brazil during the 1960s, this Brazilian Modern daybed pairs architectural clarity with a distinctly sculptural use of solid rosewood. Its elongated structure is defined by broad horizontal rails, gently rounded joinery, and four slender cylindrical legs that rise beyond the frame to form refined corner posts. A raised back rail traces the full length of the daybed, creating a restrained linear profile while preserving its visual openness from every angle.
Beneath the upholstery, a closely spaced platform of individual rosewood slats reveals the integrity of the construction and the richness of the material. The exposed frame displays expressive natural grain throughout, giving warmth and movement to its disciplined geometry.
A generously padded seat cushion rests within the surrounding rosewood structure and is finished with tailored self-welting. Two cylindrical bolster cushions form a low, adaptable backrest, balancing structured support with an inviting sense of repose. Upholstered in warm golden-caramel mohair, the cushions introduce a soft, subtly luminous surface against the polished wood. The result is an elegant and versatile example of Brazilian mid-century design, equally suited to seating, lounging, or use as a sculptural centerpiece. -
