Description
A beautiful pair of French Neoclassical Paris porcelain urns mounted as table lamps, dating to the early to mid-19th century. Each lamp is elegantly formed in the shape of a classical urn, with a narrow, tapered neck, rounded body, and richly decorated surface characteristic of fine Paris porcelain of the period.
The white porcelain ground is beautifully embellished with finely painted still-life bouquets of flowers in a harmonious palette of soft pink, purple, green, and yellow. The floral compositions are complemented by elaborate gilt decoration, including ornamental details against a delicate light green ground and generous gilt-gold accents that frame and enhance the painted panels. The contrast between the softly colored flowers, pale green accents, white porcelain, and luminous gilding gives the pair a particularly refined and decorative appearance.
Each urn rests on a substantial gilt brass base, which has been incorporated into the lamps while preserving the elegant proportions and neoclassical character of the original porcelain forms. The classical urn silhouette and restrained architectural detailing reflect the enduring influence of Neoclassicism in French decorative arts during the period.
The porcelain retains its beautiful painted decoration, while the gilding remains bright and exceptionally attractive. In great antique working condition, without chips, cracks, or repairs, and ready to be placed and enjoyed. Each lamp measures approximately 31 inches tall by 8 inches in diameter. Their elegant scale and versatile color palette allow them to complement a variety of interiors, from traditional and French interiors to more eclectic and contemporary settings. -
