Swedish Writing Table, circa 1840

Offered by: Jacqueline Adams Antiques

Description
A Swedish writing table, circa 1840, of generous scale, offering a serious work surface with the light, restrained character of Swedish furniture. Tables of this breadth from the period are uncommon and prized as desks precisely because they predate the heaviness of later 19th century office furniture: raised on simple, elegant legs, they keep a room feeling open. The surface has mellowed with age to a warm, tactile patina. It functions equally well as a writing table in a study, a sofa table, or a generous hall table, and its clean lines suit both period and contemporary rooms. Wear is consistent with age and use.

This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions!
