Art Deco Walnut & Black Lacquer Curved-Front Cabinet w/ Verde Saint Denis Top

This sensuous Art Deco Walnut & Black Lacquer Curved-Front Cabinet w/ Verde Saint Denis Top originated in France, circa 1940. The case presents a graceful curved front veneered in high gloss walnut, its warm reddish brown figure offset by a deep black lacquered molded surround that traces the top and base. A substantial verde Saint Denis marble slab with pale green and white veining crowns the piece and sits within a rounded lacquered gallery that emphasizes the cabinet's sinuous silhouette. The front reads as a composition of doors and vertical elements punctuated by cylindrical lucite handles with nickel finished mounts which lend a refined machine age accent to the design. The cabinet rests on a low plinth base and retains a streamlined bombe influenced profile characteristic of late Art Deco French casework. Internally the cabinet is constructed as a veneered case finished with glazed surfaces and precision joinery that echo its period detailing. The overall presentation balances luxurious materials and restrained geometric form to create a sculptural and functional object. The piece is in Mint Restored Condition.
