Description
The monumental 'XXL Dome' pendant lamp, designed by Ingo Maurer in 1999, is a great example of architectural lighting design.
Defined by its oversized hemispherical form, the lamp features a 180 cm diameter fibreglass reflector with a textured aluminium-silver lacquered exterior and a vivid matte green interior. The contrast between the metallic outer surface and the saturated green underside gives the piece its distinctive sculptural character. Both a functional light source and a monumental design object, the XXL Dome was conceived for interiors where scale and spatial presence are essential. Its imposing proportions make it particularly suited to expansive residential interiors, galleries, entrance halls and architectural spaces with generous ceiling heights.
A striking example of Ingo Maurer's experimental approach to light, material and form.
