DAN MAZZARINI, PARTNER

Trained in branding and interior design, Dan Mazzarini began his career working with Kramer Design Group in New York City. He was quickly made lead designer on the global re-launch of the Michael Kors brand, a $30 million project that saw his designs implemented in over 2,000 locations in the U.S. and abroad. At 24, he was appointed Design Director and increased the interiors and branding business by more than 300 percent. With Kramer, he directed projects for clients such as Calvin Klein, John Varvatos, Shiseido, Movado, Narciso Rodriguez, Waterworks and Nautica.

In 2006, Mazzarini was tapped by Ralph Lauren to join its renowned store design team. During his 5 years as Director of Decorative for Polo Store Development, he helped develop the diverse range of aesthetics of the entire Ralph Lauren family of brands. He designed and installed over 150 Ralph Lauren flagship stores in more than 16 countries, amounting to over $50 million of decorative sourcing and purchasing.

With BHDM, Mazzarini’s role is that of interpreter, narrator, curator and manger. With a keen skill to intuit the essence of a client, he conjures up a unique story to create a design with both familiarity and the unexpected concurrently. Mazzarini manages many trades and projects simultaneously, always with a focus on the brand essence of the customer. His extensive world travel is reflected in the design inspiration, artisans, resources, and found objects that make BHDM’s project solutions as unique as each client.

BRIAN HUMPHREY, PARTNER

Brian Humphrey’s career began when he was hired from Parsons School of Design by the legendary fashion label Halston. He then moved on to Ralph Lauren Home, where some of his iconic creations for product and furniture lines are still in current production for the brand. Later serving as Consulting Design Director at Calvin Klein, Humphrey was largely responsible for building the in-house Store Design Department, which oversaw international department store shops, showrooms, corporate offices and special projects. Throughout his tenure, he worked closely with the Visual Presentation Group and contributed to the launch of the much-heralded Calvin Klein Home brand. In 1996, Humphrey embarked on a solo career which successfully straddled projects for high profile retail and private clients.

Humphrey is a master of expressing the creative vision through illustration. His ability to synthesize ideas and influences into accurate and artistic visuals of the built environment allows clients to clearly understand the experience and atmosphere imagined by BHDM. Brian’s attention to detail is insatiable and all encompassing; from environments and furniture, to place settings and uniforms, Brian imagines the experience of a project from the total design point of view.
